Polyform har skrevet en interessant artikel med titlen “The Importance of Expanded Polystyrene in medical and Pharmaceutical Industries” om EPS’ betydning for medicinalindustrien.
I artiklen kan man bl.a. læse;
“When thinking medical and pharmaceutical industries we immediately think about two industries where reliability, freshness, stability and protection are critical. Thoroughness is essential and to get there, materials able to meet these standards must be used. Polystyrene is a good candidate; let’s learn more about it!”
Polyform argumenter for, at EPS’ens lave vægt, lave omkostning og stabilitet gør det til en egnet kandidat til “among other things, expanded polystyrene insulation boxes can be used for transport of organs, blood, medication, specimens, etc.”.
Tilsvarende har man hos Palpac tidligere på året kunne læse om “EPS Cold Chain Packaging Solutions for Shipping Pharmaceutical & Life Science Products.”
De skrev bl.a.; “Not all cold chains are created equal – some are longer, more rigorous and more time consuming from end to end. Land, sea and air modes all have different structures for keeping perishable products fresh throughout the transport chain. Certain supply chains may only require one transportation mode, but many times ground shipments are one link in a combination of transport modes.”
Palpac uddyber og gør opmærksom på en række forhold, som bør tages med i overvejelserne, når der skal tænkes i kølekæden:
- Destinationen – dvs. hvor skal pakken hen, og hvor varmt/koldt er der på destinationen.
- Hvor stabile er kølemaskinerne, som anvendes under transporten.
- I hvor høj grad kan man have tillid til hensigtsmæssig håndtering af pakkerne undervejs.
Og netop her har EPS emballagen særlige fordele.
